Suppository

Suppository is a type of dosage form in which a solid drug is enclosed in a semisolid or solid form that is designed to melt or dissolve at body temperature. Suppositories are used for drugs that are poorly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract or for drugs that need to be delivered to specific body sites, such as the rectum, vagina, or urethra. They are usually inserted into the body using a applicator. Examples of drugs delivered via suppository include anti-inflammatory agents, antinauseants, and laxatives.
