Meclizine Hydrochloride + Pyridoxine Hydrochloride

Meclizine Hydrochloride + Pyridoxine Hydrochloride is a combination drug belonging to the class of antihistamines and vitamin B6 supplements. Meclizine Hydrochloride works by blocking the action of histamine, which is responsible for symptoms of motion sickness. Pyridoxine Hydrochloride is involved in the metabolism of histamine and helps to prevent nausea and vomiting associated with motion sickness.

 

Meclizine Hydrochloride + Pyridoxine Hydrochloride is indicated for the prevention and treatment of nausea, vomiting, and dizziness caused by motion sickness. It can also be used for the symptomatic relief of vertigo associated with disorders of the vestibular system.

 

  • For adults and children 12 years and older, the recommended dose is one tablet (25 mg meclizine hydrochloride and 50 mg pyridoxine hydrochloride) taken one hour before travel, and then every 24 hours as needed.
  • For children 6 to 12 years of age, the recommended dose is half a tablet (12.5 mg meclizine hydrochloride and 25 mg pyridoxine hydrochloride) taken one hour before travel, and then every 24 hours as needed.

 

The following adverse reactions have been reported with the use of Meclizine Hydrochloride + Pyridoxine Hydrochloride-

  • Drowsiness
  • Dry mouth
  • Blurred vision
  • Dizziness

 

  • Meclizine Hydrochloride + Pyridoxine Hydrochloride may cause drowsiness or impair the ability to operate machinery or drive a car. Patients should be advised to avoid these activities until they know how they will react to the drug.
  • Patients with a history of glaucoma, asthma, urinary retention, or prostate enlargement should use this medication with caution and under the guidance of a healthcare professional.
  • Meclizine Hydrochloride + Pyridoxine Hydrochloride should be used with caution in patients who have liver or kidney disease, as well as in elderly patients, who may be more sensitive to the effects of the drug.
  • Patients should not exceed the recommended dosage and should consult a healthcare professional if symptoms persist or worsen.

 

Contraindication

Meclizine Hydrochloride + Pyridoxine Hydrochloride is contraindicated in patients who are hypersensitive to meclizine, pyridoxine, or any of the components of the drug.
