Metronidazole + Miconazole Nitrate
Metronidazole + miconazole nitrate is a combination medication of metronidazole which is an antibacterial agent and miconazole, an antifungal agent.
Metronidazole + miconazole nitrate is indicated for the treatment of vaginal infections caused by-
- Trichomonas sp.
- Candida sp.
Metronidazole + miconazole nitrate is available as vaginal suppository.
In trichomoniasis, 1 vaginal tablet should be administered high up into the vagina once a day (ideally before bedtime) for 10 days, in addition to oral metronidazole treatment.
1 vaginal tablet must be inserted high up into the vagina for 10 days to treat candidiasis or other fungal infections. Before using the vaginal tablet, it should be slightly wet.
Nausea, vomiting, febrile reactions, rash, drowsiness, diarrhoea, anorexia and flushing, hepatitis. Local irritation and sensitisation, contact dermatitis.
