Pseudoephedrine Hydrochloride + Triprolidine Hydrochloride

Pseudoephedrine Hydrochloride + Triprolidine Hydrochloride is a combination drug that belongs to the class of sympathomimetic agents and antihistamines respectively. Pseudoephedrine acts by stimulating alpha-adrenergic receptors in the respiratory tract, reducing swelling of nasal passages and improving breathing. Triprolidine acts by blocking the action of histamine, reducing symptoms of allergic reactions.

 

Pseudoephedrine Hydrochloride + Triprolidine Hydrochloride is indicated for the relief of nasal congestion, sneezing, runny nose, and itchy/watery eyes caused by allergies or the common cold.

 

The recommended dosage for adults and children over 12 years of age is two tablets every 12 hours, not exceeding four tablets in a 24-hour period. The dosage for children under 12 years of age should be determined by a healthcare provider.

 

The most common adverse reactions associated with Pseudoephedrine Hydrochloride + Triprolidine Hydrochloride include-

  • Do not use this medication if you have severe high blood pressure, severe heart disease, or narrow-angle glaucoma.

  • Use caution when operating heavy machinery or driving as this medication can cause drowsiness or dizziness.
  • Use caution in patients with a history of seizures, diabetes, thyroid disease, or prostate enlargement.
  • Use caution in patients with liver or kidney disease as the drug may accumulate in the body and increase the risk of adverse reactions.

 

Contraindication

  • Pseudoephedrine Hydrochloride + Triprolidine Hydrochloride is contraindicated in patients with a hypersensitivity to any of its components.
  • It should not be used in patients currently taking or who have taken a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) within the past 14 days such as-
