Allystrenol

Allystrenol is a synthetic progestin that acts on the female reproductive system. It works by inhibiting the release of gonadotropins, which are hormones responsible for the growth and maintenance of the corpus luteum. By doing so, allystrenol suppresses ovulation, reduces uterine contractility, and increases the thickness of the cervical mucus.

Allystrenol is indicated for use in the prevention of premature labor in pregnant women who are at risk of preterm delivery. It is also used to reduce the frequency and intensity of uterine contractions in women with a history of preterm birth.

The dosage of allystrenol depends on the individual patient's condition and response to treatment. It is typically administered orally in the form of tablets, and the recommended dosage is 5 to 10 mg three times a day. Treatment should begin as early as possible in pregnancy and continue until the risk of preterm delivery has passed.

The following side effects may appear with the use of allystrenol-

  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Dizziness
  • Headache
  • Fatigue
  • Breast tenderness
  • Abdominal pain
  • Skin rash
  • Edema

  • Allystrenol should not be used in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to the drug or any of its components.
  • The drug should be used with caution in patients with liver or kidney disease, as allystrenol is metabolized by the liver and excreted by the kidneys.
  • Patients should be monitored closely for signs of vaginal bleeding, as this may be a sign of premature labor or other complications.
  • The safety and effectiveness of allystrenol in pregnant women has not been established beyond 34 weeks of gestation.
  • The drug may cause fetal harm when administered during pregnancy, and women of childbearing potential should use effective contraception during treatment.
  • Allystrenol may interact with other drugs, including anticoagulants and corticosteroids, and patients should inform their healthcare provider of all medications they are taking.
  • Breastfeeding mothers should not use allystrenol, as it may be excreted in breast milk and harm the infant.

Contraindication

Allystrenol is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to the drug or any of its components.

  • Allystrenol should not be used in patients with liver or kidney disease, as well as in women with a history of thrombosis, thromboembolic disorders, or cerebrovascular disease.
  • The drug is also contraindicated in patients with breast cancer or other hormone-sensitive tumors.
