Fenticonazole Nitrate
Fenticonazole is an imidazole antifungal drug, used locally as the nitrate. It is effective against a wide variety of fungi.
Fenticonazole nitrate is indicated for vulvovaginal candidiasis.
- Fenticonazole is available as vaginal cream and vaginal tablets.
- For adults, one applicator full (about 5 gm) is to be administered into the vagina in the morning and evening for three days.
How to apply vaginal cream:
Slight temporary burning may occur after intravaginal administration, although it normally goes away quickly.
- It is not recommended for use with barrier contraceptives.
- Treatment should be stopped and a physician should be consulted if a hypersensitive reaction or the development of resistant organisms occurs.
Contraindication
Fenticonazole is contraindicated in individuals who have shown previous hypersensitivity to Oxiconazole or other azoles, such as-
