Mepyramine Maleate

Mepyramine Maleate belongs to the class of first-generation antihistamines. It acts as a competitive antagonist of histamine at H1 receptors, preventing the effects of histamine release. By blocking histamine, Mepyramine Maleate alleviates symptoms associated with allergic reactions, such as itching, sneezing, and rhinorrhea.

Mepyramine Maleate is indicated for the relief of:

  • Allergic rhinitis
  • Allergic conjunctivitis
  • Mild, uncomplicated allergic skin manifestations of urticaria and angioedema

Dosage recommendations may vary based on the specific indication and individual patient response.

  1. Adults and Children (12 years and older):

    • Oral tablets: 25 to 50 mg every 4 to 6 hours as needed.
    • Parenteral injection: Dosage and frequency determined by the healthcare provider.
  2. Children (6 to 12 years):

    • Oral tablets: 12.5 to 25 mg every 4 to 6 hours as needed.
    • Parenteral injection: Dosage and frequency determined by the healthcare provider.
  3. Children (2 to 6 years):

    • Oral tablets: 6.25 to 12.5 mg every 4 to 6 hours as needed.
    • Parenteral injection: Dosage and frequency determined by the healthcare provider.
