Vitamin B6
Vitamin B6 or Pyridoxine, is a water soluble vitamin. Vitamin B6 is a vitamin that benefits the central nervous system and metabolism. Its roles include turning food into energy and helping to create neurotransmitters, such as serotonin and dopamine.
Vitamin B6 is indicated for the prophylaxis and treatment of symptoms associated with vitamin B6 deficiency.
Usual adult dose is one to two tablets daily or as directed by a physician.
Thiamine preparations are generally well tolerated and rarely causes any side effects. In case of overdosage, the following side effects may appear.
- Diarrhea
- Abdominal pain
- Nausea
- headache
Vitamin B6 preparations are safe medications. No precautions are advised.
Contraindication
Contraindicated in patients hypersensitive to any component of the formulation.
