Zopiclone
Zopiclone is a non-benzodiazepine hypnotic drug that works by enhancing the effects of a neurotransmitter called GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid) in the brain. GABA is an inhibitory neurotransmitter that helps regulate brain activity and promote relaxation and sleep.
Zopiclone is indicated in-
- Treatment of insomnia, including difficulty in falling asleep and staying asleep
- Zopiclone is available in tablet form.
- The recommended starting dose is 7.5 mg, taken orally just before bedtime.
- Dosage may be adjusted based on individual response and severity of symptoms.
- Do not take more than the recommended dose.
- Avoid using alcohol while taking Zopiclone.
Common side effects of Zopiclone include-
- headache
- dizziness
- drowsiness
- muscle weakness
- taste disturbances
- Zopiclone may cause drowsiness, dizziness, or lightheadedness. Avoid driving or operating heavy machinery until you know how it affects you.
- Zopiclone may cause memory impairment. Use caution when performing tasks that require alertness.
- Zopiclone may cause dependence or withdrawal symptoms, especially with long-term use. Do not use for more than 4 weeks without medical supervision.
- Zopiclone may interact with other medications, so inform your healthcare provider about all medications and supplements you are taking before using Zopiclone.
Contraindication
- Do not use Zopiclone if you are hypersensitive to zopiclone or any of the components of the formulation.

Do not use Zopiclone if you have certain medical conditions such as-
- severe respiratory problems
- liver or kidney disease
- history of drug or alcohol abuse
