Amprolium + Ethopabate

Amprolium + Ethopabate is a veterinary drug that belongs to the class of antiparasitic agents. Amprolium is a thiamine analog that inhibits the multiplication of Eimeria species, which cause coccidiosis in poultry. Ethopabate is a coccidiostat that inhibits the growth and reproduction of Eimeria species by interfering with their metabolism.

 

Amprolium + Ethopabate is indicated for the treatment and prevention of coccidiosis in poultry, caused by Eimeria tenella, E. necatrix, E. acervulina, E. maxima, E. mivati, and E. brunetti.

 

For prevention, mix 1 lb of Amprolium + Ethopabate with 50 lbs of feed, and feed continuously for 21 days. For treatment, mix 2 lbs of Amprolium + Ethopabate with 50 lbs of feed, and feed continuously for 5 to 7 days. Dosage may vary based on the severity of the disease, consult a veterinarian for appropriate dosing.

 

The most common adverse reactions associated with Amprolium + Ethopabate include decreased feed intake, weight loss, and anorexia. Less common adverse reactions include dehydration, diarrhea, and lethargy. In rare cases, severe allergic reactions may occur, which require immediate veterinary attention.

 

  • Do not use in chickens producing eggs for human consumption.
  • Do not use in turkeys or laying hens.
  • Do not use in animals with a known hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients.
  • Do not exceed recommended dosages, as this may lead to toxicity and death.
  • Use caution when administering to debilitated or young animals.

Contraindication

Amprolium + Ethopabate is contraindicated in chickens producing eggs for human consumption, turkeys, laying hens, and animals with known hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients.
