Antazoline Hydrochloride + Tetryzoline Hydrochloride

This combination medication includes Antazoline Hydrochloride, an antihistamine, and Tetryzoline Hydrochloride, a vasoconstrictor. Antazoline blocks histamine receptors, providing relief from allergic symptoms. Tetryzoline constricts blood vessels, reducing nasal congestion. Together, they act synergistically to relieve symptoms associated with allergic rhinitis and ocular irritation.

Antazoline Hydrochloride + Tetryzoline Hydrochloride is indicated for the temporary relief of ocular irritation and redness caused by allergens, such as pollen, dust, or pet dander. It is also used for the temporary relief of nasal congestion associated with allergic rhinitis.

  • Instill 1 to 2 drops into each affected eye every 4 to 6 hours, or as directed by a healthcare professional.
  • For nasal congestion, apply 1 to 2 sprays into each nostril every 4 to 6 hours, or as directed.

The following side effects may occur with the use of Antazoline Hydrochloride + Tetryzoline Hydrochloride-

  • Ocular irritation (burning, stinging)
  • Dryness of the eyes or nose
  • Blurred vision
  • Headache
  • Increased intraocular pressure
  • Allergic reactions (rash, itching)
  • Prolonged Use: Limit the duration of use to prevent rebound congestion or other adverse effects associated with prolonged use of vasoconstrictors.
  • Increased Intraocular Pressure: Use with caution in patients with glaucoma, as vasoconstrictors may increase intraocular pressure. Monitor intraocular pressure regularly.
  • Contact Lenses: Remove contact lenses before instilling eye drops. Wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting them to prevent potential interactions with the preservatives.
  • Systemic Effects: Absorption of the medication may lead to systemic effects, especially in children. Use caution and monitor for signs of systemic absorption.
  • Allergic Reactions: Discontinue use if allergic reactions occur and seek medical attention. Avoid use in patients with known hypersensitivity to the components.
  • Pregnancy and Lactation: Use during pregnancy and lactation only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus or infant. Exercise caution and consult a healthcare professional.
