Bacitracin Zinc + Neomycin Sulphate + Polymixin B Sulphate

Bacitracin Zinc + Neomycin Sulphate + Polymixin B Sulphate is a topical antibiotic ointment used to treat bacterial infections of the eye. Bacitracin Zinc + Neomycin Sulphate + Polymixin B Sulphate is a combination of two antibiotics that work together to kill bacteria. Bacitracin Zinc is active against gram-positive bacteria, while Polymyxin B Sulphate is active against gram-negative bacteria.

 

Bacitracin Zinc + Neomycin Sulphate + Polymixin B Sulphate ointment is indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections of the eye, including conjunctivitis, keratitis, and blepharitis caused by susceptible strains of bacteria.

 

The recommended dose for Bacitracin Zinc + Neomycin Sulphate + Polymixin B Sulphate ointment is a small amount (about 1/2 inch) applied to the affected eye(s) every 3 to 4 hours or as directed by a veterinarian. The dose may vary depending on the severity of the infection and the patient's age.

The most common adverse reactions associated with Bacitracin Zinc + Neomycin Sulphate + Polymixin B Sulphate ointment are mild and include burning, stinging, itching, and redness of the eye(s). In rare cases, more severe reactions such as swelling, rash, or difficulty breathing may occur.

  • Bacitracin Zinc + Neomycin Sulphate + Polymixin B Sulphate ointment is for topical use only and should not be ingested or administered orally.
  • Patients with a history of hypersensitivity or allergic reactions to Bacitracin Zinc, Polymyxin B Sulphate, or other antibiotics should avoid using this ointment.
  • The use of Bacitracin Zinc + Neomycin Sulphate + Polymixin B Sulphate ointment may cause overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms, including fungi. If superinfection occurs, the ointment should be discontinued and appropriate treatment initiated.
  • Bacitracin Zinc + Neomycin Sulphate + Polymixin B Sulphate ointment may cause eye irritation or blurred vision. Patients should be advised to avoid driving or operating machinery until vision has returned to normal.
  • Bacitracin Zinc + Neomycin Sulphate + Polymixin B Sulphate ointment should be stored at room temperature and kept out of reach of children.

Contraindication
