Betamethasone + Calcipotriol

Betamethasone + Calcipotriol is a combination medication used as a topical cream. Betamethasone is a glucocorticoid that reduces inflammation. Calcipotriol is a form of vitamin D that slows down the production of skin cells.

Betamethasone + Calcipotriol is indicated for the treatment of Psoriasis.

  • For up to 4 weeks, apply Betamethasone + Calcipotriol Ointment to the afflicted area(s).
  • When you've acquired control, you can stop taking the medication.
  • Adults should not use more than 100g of sugar each week.
  • Patients between the ages of 12 and 17 should not use more than 60 g per week.
  • It is not recommended to treat more than 30% of the body's surface area.
  • Unless otherwise ordered by a physician, do not use with occlusive dressings.
  • If skin atrophy is present at the treatment site, avoid using it on the face, groin, or axillae.
  • Oral, ophthalmic, and intravaginal usage are not recommended.

The most common adverse reactions are-

  • Pruritus
  • Scaly rash
  • There has been a finding of hypercalcemia and hypercalciuria. If either of these events occurs, stop medication and wait for calcium metabolism parameters to return to normal.
  • Betamethasone + Calcipotriol Ointment can cause reversible suppression of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis, which can lead to glucocorticosteroid insufficiency during and after treatment. High-potency topical corticosteroids, usage over a broad surface area or in occluded areas, extended use, simultaneous use of more than one corticosteroid-containing product, altered skin barrier, liver failure, and use in young patients are all risk factors. If HPA axis suppression occurs, adjust your dosage.
