Brimonidine Tartrate + Brinzolamide

Brimonidine Tartrate + Brinzolamide is a fixed combination of a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor and an alpha 2 adrenergic receptor agonist 

Brimonidine Tartrate + Brinzolamide is indicated for the reduction of elevated intraocular pressure in patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension.

Shake vigorously before using. Apply one drop to the affected eye(s) three times per day. If more than one topical ophthalmic drug is used, it should be given at least five (5) minutes apart.

Common side effects include-

  • Blurred vision
  • Eye irritation
  • Taste disturbances
  • Dry mouth

 

  • Potential for sulfonamide hypersensitivity reactions because of the brinzolamide tartrate component
  • Potential for corneal endothelium cell loss
  • Severe renal impairment may limit the metabolism of the brinzolamide tartrate component 

 

Contraindication

Contraindicated in patients hypersensitive to any component of the medication.

Contraindicated in neonates and infants.
