Brinzolamide + Timolol
Brinzolamide + Timolol is a combinational eye drop solution that contains two medicines, dorzolamide hydrochloride called an ophthalmic carbonic anhydrase inhibitor and timolol maleate called a beta-blocker.
Brinzolamide + Timolol is indicated for the-
- reduction of elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) in patients with open-angle glaucoma
- ocular hypertension who are insufficiently responsive to beta-blockers
- Brinzolamide + Timolol is available as ophthalmic solution/ suspension.
- The dose is one drop of Brinzolamide/Timolol in the conjunctival sac of the affected eye(s) twice daily.
- If a dose is missed, treatment should be continued with the next dose as planned. The dose should not exceed one drop in the affected eye(s) twice daily.
How to administer ophthalmic solution/suspension:
Commonly associated side effects include-
- eye burning
- eye stinging
- eye redness
- blurred vision
- eye tearing
- eye itching
- a bitter, sour, or unusual taste after putting in your eyedrops
Contraindication
Brinzolamide + Timolol contraindicated in patients hypersensitive to any component of the product and other sulfonamides-
Brinzolamide + Timolol is contraindicated in the following health conditions-
- reactive airway disease
- sinus bradycardia, sick sinus syndrome, sino-atrial block, second or third degree atrioventricular block not controlled with pacemaker, overt cardiac failure, cardiogenic shock
- severe kidney problems
