Calcium + Cholecalciferol (Vit. D3)

Calcium + Cholecalciferol is combination medication of calcium mineral and cholecalciferol. Calcium is the principle constituent of teeth and bone. Cholecalciferol or Vitamin D3 helps the body to absorb calcium and phosphate. It is the precursor to the hormone calcitriol.

Calcium + Cholecalciferol is indicated in-

  • As an adjunct to specific therapy for osteoporosis
  • Mineral & Vitamin supplementation where necessary; such as- pregnancy
  • Osteomalacia

Adults and Elderly and Children above 12 years of age: 2 chewable tablets per day, preferably one tablet each morning and evening.

Rarely, the following side effects may appear with the use of Calcium + Cholecalciferol-

  • Constipation
  • Flatulence
  • Rash
  • Abdominal pain
  • Hypercalciuria (rare)
  • Patients with mild to moderate renal failure or mild hypercalciuria should be closely monitored, with blood calcium levels and urinary calcium excretion checked on a regular basis.
  • Urinary calcium excretion should be assessed in patients with a history of renal stones to rule out hypercalciuria.
  • Patients undergoing treatment for cardiovascular disease should exercise caution.

Contraindication

Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to any component of the formulation.
