Cetalkonium Chloride + Choline Salicylate

Cetalkonium chloride + Choline Salicylate is a mouth preparation drug that belongs to the class of antiseptic and anti-inflammatory agents. Cetalkonium chloride has antiseptic properties, while Choline Salicylate is an anti-inflammatory drug. The combination of these drugs helps to reduce inflammation and kill bacteria in the mouth.

 

Cetalkonium chloride + Choline Salicylate is used for the relief of pain and inflammation in the mouth caused by various conditions such as gingivitis, mouth ulcers, sore throat, canker sore, cold sore, tonsillitis, and dental procedures. It is also used for the prevention of infections after dental procedures and to maintain good oral hygiene.

 

1/2 inch of gel should be applied on the affected area at an interval of 3 hours.

 

The common side effects of Cetalkonium chloride + Choline Salicylate include-

  • burning or stinging sensation in the mouth
  • dry mouth
  • taste disturbance

Other less common side effects may include mouth ulcers, allergic reactions, and swelling of the tongue or mouth.

 

  • The use of Cetalkonium chloride + Choline Salicylate should be avoided in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to salicylates or other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
  • This medication should not be used for more than 7 days unless advised by a physician.
  • The drug should not be swallowed and should be used for external use only.
  • The use of this medication during pregnancy or lactation should be discussed with a physician before use.
  • If the symptoms worsen or do not improve within 7 days of treatment, a physician should be consulted.

 

Contraindication

Cetalkonium chloride + Choline Salicylate is contraindicated in patients hypersensitive to any component of the product.

 

Cetalkonium chloride + Choline Salicylate is contraindicated in patients with peptic ulcer.
