Fluormetholone + Neomycin Sulphate

Fluorometholone + Neomycin Sulphate is a combination drug consisting of a corticosteroid (fluorometholone) and an antibiotic (neomycin sulphate). Fluorometholone is a synthetic glucocorticoid that has anti-inflammatory properties, while neomycin sulphate is an aminoglycoside antibiotic that is effective against gram-negative bacteria. The combination of these drugs provides a broad-spectrum treatment for bacterial infections and inflammation in the eye.

Fluorometholone + Neomycin Sulphate is indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections and inflammation of the eye, including conjunctivitis, keratitis, and iritis.

The recommended dosage for adults and children over the age of 6 years is to apply 1-2 drops of the solution to the affected eye(s) 2-4 times a day, or as directed by the healthcare provider. The duration of treatment will depend on the severity of the infection or inflammation.

The following adverse reactions may occur with the use of Fluorometholone + Neomycin Sulphate:

  • Burning or stinging of the eye
  • Blurred vision
  • Eye irritation or discomfort
  • Eye redness
  • Allergic reactions, including rash, itching, and swelling

  • Fluorometholone + Neomycin Sulphate should be used with caution in patients with a history of hypersensitivity reactions to corticosteroids or aminoglycosides.
  • Prolonged use of corticosteroids may result in increased intraocular pressure, which can lead to glaucoma or cataracts. Patients should be monitored for these conditions during treatment.
  • Use of neomycin sulphate may result in the development of bacterial resistance, which can lead to treatment failure.
  • Fluorometholone + Neomycin Sulphate should not be used to treat viral or fungal infections of the eye.
  • Contact lenses should not be worn during treatment with this medication.
  • Fluorometholone + Neomycin Sulphate should not be used in pregnant or nursing women without consulting a healthcare provider.
