Fluorometholone + Tetryzoline Hydrochloride

Fluorometholone + Tetryzoline Hydrochloride is a combination formulation of an Ophthalmic Corticosteroid and a Vasoconstrictor. Fluorometholone is a potent anti-inflammatory agent, fluorometholone acts by inhibiting the synthesis of pro-inflammatory cytokines and preventing immune response activation within the eye. Exhibiting vasoconstrictive properties, tetryzoline hydrochloride constricts blood vessels in the eye, thereby reducing redness and alleviating swelling associated with ocular inflammation.

This ophthalmic combination is indicated for the temporary relief of symptoms associated with inflammatory conditions of the eye, including:

  • Conjunctivitis & Keratitis: Inflammation of the conjunctiva and the cornea respectively.
  • Allergic Conjunctivitis: Ocular inflammation triggered by allergic reactions.
  • Irritation: Alleviation of general eye irritation.
  • Redness: Reduction of eye redness related to inflammatory responses.
  • Administer 1 to 2 drops into the affected eye(s) 2 to 4 times daily, or as directed by a qualified healthcare professional.
  • Ensure precise administration into the conjunctival sac without direct contact between the dropper tip and the eye or surrounding surfaces.
  • Shake the product well before use if it is a suspension.

Adverse reactions may include, with decreasing frequency:

  • Burning Sensation: Mild discomfort upon instillation.
  • Increased Intraocular pressure
  • Blurred Vision: Temporary vision impairment.
  • Tearing: Increased tearing.
  • Itching: Occasional itching.
  • Dryness: Temporary dryness.
  • Redness: Mild ocular redness.
  • Corneal Ulcers: Potential occurrence with prolonged use, necessitating vigilant monitoring.
  • Prolonged Use Concerns: Extended use may predispose individuals to corticosteroid-induced glaucoma or cataracts; regular intraocular pressure monitoring is advised.
  • Secondary Infections: Corticosteroids may mask signs of underlying fungal or bacterial infections; caution is warranted in untreated infections.
  • Contact Lenses: Remove contact lenses before application and delay reinsertion for at least 10 minutes.
