Metronidazole + Neomycin Sulphate + Nystatin + Polymixin B Sulphate

It is a combination medication. Metronidazole, a nitroimidazole, has antibacterial and antiprotozoal properties. Nystatin is a type of polyene antibiotic that has antifungal properties. Neomycin is a kind of aminoglycoside antibiotic. It's antibacterial and works on both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. Pseudomonas aeruginosa and other gram-negative bacteria are susceptible to polymyxin.

This combination medication is used to treat Vaginal infections caused by susceptible pathogens.

Metronidazole + Neomycin Sulphate + Nystatin + Polymixin B Sulphate is available as vaginal suppository. The usual dosage is one suppository in the vagina at bedtime for 12 days or as directed by the physician.

How to administer vaginal suppository:

The side effects are usually mild. The most commonly reported are-

  • Rash
  • Urticaria

The patient should be cautious if he is renally impaired.

Contraindication

Contraindicated to the patients who are hypersensitive to Metronidazole, Neomycin Sulphate, Polymyxin B Sulphate and Nystatin.
