Pyrimethamine + Sodium Salicylate + Sulphaquinoxaline + Vitamin K

Pyrimethamine + Sodium Salicylate + Sulphaquinoxaline + Vitamin K is a combination drug that belongs to the antiparasitic class of drugs. The mechanism of action of this combination is through the inhibition of dihydrofolate reductase in protozoa. It prevents the formation of tetrahydrofolic acid, which is necessary for the synthesis of nucleic acids and proteins. This results in the inhibition of DNA synthesis and cell division in the protozoa, leading to their death.

 

Pyrimethamine + Sodium Salicylate + Sulphaquinoxaline + Vitamin K is indicated for the treatment of coccidiosis, a parasitic disease caused by Eimeria spp. in poultry.

 

The recommended dose of Pyrimethamine + Sodium Salicylate + Sulphaquinoxaline + Vitamin K for poultry is 1 g of the combination drug per 4 liters of drinking water. This dosage should be administered for 5 consecutive days.

 

Adverse reactions associated with the use of Pyrimethamine + Sodium Salicylate + Sulphaquinoxaline + Vitamin K in poultry are rare. However, some possible adverse effects that may occur include:

  • Reduced feed intake
  • Reduced water consumption
  • Diarrhea
  • Vomiting
  • Anorexia
  • Lethargy

 

  • Pyrimethamine + Sodium Salicylate + Sulphaquinoxaline + Vitamin K should be used with caution in birds with impaired liver or kidney function.
  • Do not administer this drug to birds that are producing eggs for human consumption.
  • Withdrawal period: Do not slaughter birds for human consumption until 7 days after the last treatment with Pyrimethamine + Sodium Salicylate + Sulphaquinoxaline + Vitamin K.
  • Pyrimethamine + Sodium Salicylate + Sulphaquinoxaline + Vitamin K is not recommended for use in animals other than poultry.
  • Keep this drug out of reach of children.
  • In case of accidental ingestion, seek medical attention immediately.

 

Contraindication

Pyrimethamine + Sodium Salicylate + Sulphaquinoxaline + Vitamin K is contraindicated in birds that are producing eggs for human consumption. It is also contraindicated in birds with known hypersensitivity to any of the active ingredients of this drug combination.
