Bambuterol Hydrochloride

Bambuterol Hydrochloride is beta 2 adrenergic receptor agonist. Beta 2 receptors are predominantly located in the trachea and air ways. Activation of the receptor causes relaxation of smooth muscles which causes bronchodialation.

Bambuterol Hydrochloride is indicated in-

  • Asthma
  • Bronchospasm
  • COPD
  • Exercise-Induced Bronchospasm Prevention

Side effects include-

  • Fine tremor of skeletal muscle
  • palpitations
  • muscle cramps
  • tachycardia
  • tension
  • headache
  • edema
  • hypersensitivity reactions

Special precautions should be taken in-

  • Patient w/ liver cirrhosis and other causes of severely impaired liver function
  • underlying severe heart disease (e.g. ischaemic heart disease, arrhythmia or severe heart failure)
  • thyrotoxicosis
  • hypertrophic cardiomyopathy
  • predisposition to angle closure glaucoma
  • moderate to severe renal impairment
  • pregnancy and lactation.

Not intended for relief of acute bronchospasm or in patients w/ unstable respiratory disease. 

Contraindication

Contraindicated in patients hypersensitive to any component of the medication.

Contraindicated in Pheochromocytoma.
