Amlodipine + Benazepril Hydrochloride

This is a combination of amlodipine, a calcium channel blocker and benazepril hydrochloride, an ACE inhibitor. They work together to reduce hypertension.

Amlodipine + Benazepril Hydrochloride is indicated for hypertension that is not significantly responsive to monotherapy of the either agents.

  • Amlodipine + Benazepril Hydrochloride is available as tablets. 
  • The suggested starting dose is 1 amlodipine 2.5 mg/benazepril 10 mg tablet used once a day.
  • The full benefit of the medicine may take about 2 weeks to show up. The patient should take the medicine regularly.

Side effects commonly associated with the medication include-

  • Dizziness
  • Dry cough
  • Angioedema
  • Hyperkalemia
  • Rash
  • If you are allergic to amlodipine or benazepril, or other dihydropyridine calcium channel blockers (such as nisoldipine, nifedipine), or other ACE inhibitors (such as captopril, lisinopril), or if you have any other allergies, notify your doctor or pharmacist before taking this drug.
  • Serious cases of hyperkalemia is reported. Patient should avoid potassium rich foods while using Amlodipine + Benazepril Hydrochloride.
  • This medication is not recommended for use during pregnancy. It may harm an unborn baby.
