Bambuterol Hydrochloride
Bambuterol Hydrochloride is beta 2 adrenergic receptor agonist. Beta 2 receptors are predominantly located in the trachea and air ways. Activation of the receptor causes relaxation of smooth muscles which causes bronchodialation.
Bambuterol Hydrochloride is indicated in-
- Asthma
- Bronchospasm
- COPD
- Exercise-Induced Bronchospasm Prevention
10-20 mg once daily at bedtime.
Side effects include-
- Fine tremor of skeletal muscle
- palpitations
- muscle cramps
- tachycardia
- tension
- headache
- edema
- hypersensitivity reactions
Special precautions should be taken in-
- Patient w/ liver cirrhosis and other causes of severely impaired liver function
- underlying severe heart disease (e.g. ischaemic heart disease, arrhythmia or severe heart failure)
- thyrotoxicosis
- hypertrophic cardiomyopathy
- predisposition to angle closure glaucoma
- moderate to severe renal impairment
- pregnancy and lactation.
Not intended for relief of acute bronchospasm or in patients w/ unstable respiratory disease.
Contraindication
Contraindicated in patients hypersensitive to any component of the medication.
None known.
Contraindicated in Pheochromocytoma.
