Tetryzoline Hydrochloride

Tetryzoline is a sympathomimetic agent that acts as an alpha-adrenergic agonist. It constricts blood vessels in the eye, reducing redness and swelling.

 

Tetryzoline is indicated for the temporary relief of redness of the eye due to minor eye irritations such as smoke and dust.

 

The recommended dose of Tetryzoline is one or two drops in the affected eye(s) up to four times daily as needed. Tetryzoline should not be used for longer than 72 hours without consulting a doctor.

 

The most common adverse reactions associated with the use of Tetryzoline include:

  • Blurred vision
  • Eye dryness
  • Burning sensation
  • Stinging sensation
  • Pupil dilation

 

  • Tetryzoline should not be used in patients with narrow-angle glaucoma or a known hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients.
  • Prolonged use of Tetryzoline may lead to rebound redness or worsening of symptoms.
  • Tetryzoline should not be used with other eye drops or medications without consulting a doctor.
  • Contact lenses should be removed before administering Tetryzoline and should not be reinserted for 15 minutes after administration.
  • Patients should not drive or operate heavy machinery until vision clears after using Tetryzoline.
  • Tetryzoline should not be used in children under six years of age without consulting a doctor.

 

Contraindication

Tetryzoline is contraindicated in patients with a known hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients.

 

Tetryzoline is contraindicated in patients with narrow-angle glaucoma.
