Remarks

Amlodipine + Telmisartan

Amlodipine + telmisartan is a combination medicine of amlodipine, a calcium channel blocker and telmisartan, an angiotensin II type 1 receptor antagonist.

Amlodipine + Telmisartan is indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension. Amlodipine + Telmisartan is used to treat adults with high blood pressure who aren't obtaining significant improvement on amlodipine or valsartan alone.

  • Amlodipine + Telmisartan is available as tablets. It can be taken with or without meals.
  • Telmisartan, at once-daily doses of 20 to 80 mg, is a helpful treatment for hypertension, while amlodipine, in doses of 2.5 to 10 mg, is effective.
  • Dosage must be tailored to the individual, and it can be increased after at least two weeks. Within two weeks, the majority of the antihypertensive effect is visible, and maximal decrease is usually achieved after four weeks. TWYNSTA tablets should be used once a day at a maximum dose of 80/10 mg.

Side effects associated with Amlodipine + Telmisartan are as follows-

  • Edema
  • Dizziness
  • Back pain
  • Hypotension
  • Dyspepsia
  • Myalgia (muscle pain)
  • Medications that affect the renin-angiotensin system impair fetal renal function and increase fetal and infant morbidity and death throughout the second and third trimesters of pregnancy.
  • Excessive hypotension occurred in 0.4 percent of individuals with uncomplicated hypertension who were given Amlodipine + Telmisartan. Individuals with an active renin-angiotensin system, such as volume- and/or salt-depleted patients receiving high doses of diuretics, may experience symptomatic hypotension when using angiotensin receptor blockers.
  • Start therapy carefully in patients with heart failure or a recent myocardial infarction, as well as those undergoing surgery or dialysis.
